Frame your future: Quarterly planning for creativity and personal growth

How do you balance the need for creative freedom with the reality of getting things done? This workshop will show you how quarterly planning can fuel your creative growth, encourage learning (and yes, occasional failure), and keep you accountable in the process.

As a Design Operations Lead for a Design Systems team, I’ll share insights from managing large-scale initiatives, and balancing big-picture strategy with day-to-day delivery. You’ll work through a structured yet flexible framework that integrates UX principles, operational best practices, and personal goal-setting techniques. Whether you're a UX leader, designer, or strategist, you'll leave with a customized plan for your next quarter—one that aligns vision with action.

Whether you are a wireframing wizard, have half of your layers unnamed, or practice a bit of both – this talk is for all levels of personal organization!

This presentation is for:

  • Designers looking to explore or (re)incorporate learning more intentionally into their process, fostering growth and creativity.
  • Leaders who want to bring structure to the creative process while promoting experimentation, learning, and resilience, even through potential failure.

Attendees will leave with:

  • A repeatable quarterly planning framework that fosters both creative exploration and accountability.
  • Methods to prioritize and scope initiatives while staying aligned with long-term goals.
  • How to balance structure with flexibility using Design Ops principles.
  • Tools and prompts to reflect on past work, identify opportunities, and set clear, achievable objectives.
  • A personalized quarterly plan ready to implement immediately.
