Designing AI behavior: why prompts aren't enough

As generative AI becomes part of the interface, experience designers are working across more than the screens users see. We’re shaping the context, instructions, and interactions that influence how these systems respond.

This talk explores the visible and less visible layers of designing AI experiences, from interface and conversational design to the prompts, data, and guidance behind them.

We’ll look at how generative AI changes the design space and what experience designers need to consider when designing interactions that can vary from one situation to the next.

This session is for designers working on generative AI experiences.

You don’t need to be an AI researcher or prompt-engineer. It will be especially useful if you want to understand how AI changes the design space, how to design beyond the visible interface, and how to evaluate behavior across different situations.

It is also relevant to product, engineering, research, and science partners working with designers on AI products.

Got some juicy gossip?

We’d love to hear it (and any other questions, wishes or suggestions you have).
